As a mother myself and auntie to twelve children, I am passionate about everything related to education, maternal and infant health, and overall family well-being.
Throughout my journey (15 years +) as a doula I have also had the pleasure and privilege of working in various community-based organizations in San Francisco, serving families with children 0-5, including as a birth & postpartum doula volunteer at San Francisco General Hospital.
My ultimate mission as a full spectrum doula is to support and advocate on behalf of families and individuals from all walks of life, regarding their reproductive choices, and to serve as a guardian of their sacred space as they embark upon their life-changing journeys.

Isis is a full spectrum Doula and birth worker, dedicated to centering harm reduction and trauma informed birth practices. They have been working with babies and families for over seven years supporting them with the various transitions of changing familial structures. In those seven years they have realized that centering their own ancestral inner knowing and ancestral knowledge is important to their practice balancing this with science backed findings as well. These transitions also allow our community to show up for us so we can build deeper support systems that are crucial in these sacred ceremonies of birth and death. Birth and death are rituals that allow us to create space to heal ourselves and others. This portal is a pathway for us to honor our own intuition and heal our ancestral traumas around birth and bodily agency as QTBIPOC people. They only use organic and non-toxic products to help soothe their clients and to provide any educational resources or support. These healing practices can be used to access and create our own liberation.

As a former physician, cancer patient, and cancer caregiver, I have deep reverence for SafetyNEST's work in keeping us safe from environmental hazards. As a cancer coach, I work to assist people in processing the psychological, social, and emotional impacts of a cancer diagnosis. My grandfather taught me that many things can be medicine, and teachers are all around us. One modality I lean heavily on in my practice is Keith's cacao, a minimally processed chocolate product that retains the nutritious and psychoactive properties of the plant. Keith's cacao tests their beans to ensure they don't carry environmental toxins like cadmium in many other brands.

SisterWeb San Francisco Community Doula Network (SisterWeb) was created from a deep commitment and passion to address the dire pregnancy and birth-related healthcare inequities experienced by Black pregnant and birthing people. SisterWeb was founded as a community doula organization to address these inequities by offering community doula care at no cost to Black pregnant and birthing people in San Francisco through Kindred Birth Companions.
Founded in fall 2018, SisterWeb was born of the shared vision held by professional birth workers and educators from these same communities. SisterWeb’s vision is to center and uplift Black families in San Francisco in their reproductive journey to welcome their children with respect, dignity, joy, and pride, leading to thriving families and communities and increased birth equity and justice. SisterWeb works to dismantle racist health care systems, strengthen community resilience, and advance economic justice for birthing families and doulas in San Francisco. SisterWeb is a network of culturally congruent community doulas and birth workers who work to ensure pregnant people from these communities have access to fair and equitable doula care and that their community doulas receive the tools, skills, and mentorship to succeed in careers as professional birth workers. SisterWeb doulas work in cohorts, with 2-3 doulas supporting each client. All doulas are supported by expert doula mentors to enhance their professional development and provide guidance.

Hi! I'm Nancy Rakela, OMD, LAc . I am a Doctor of Oriental Medicine and a licensed acupuncturist practicing in Berkeley, CA for over 30 years. Since 1992, I have been a Diplomate of the National Board of Acupuncture Orthopedic with a specialty in Acupuncture Orthopedics (a certification held by less the 5% of acupuncturists). This enables me to provide specialized treatment for acute and chronic pain from both Chinese and Western perspectives. I am a member of the American Acupuncture Association, California Society of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, and Open Pathways formerly Resolve of Northern California.
I am also a long time practitioner of yoga and meditation. I teach weekly yoga and meditation classes and specialty mind body stress reduction classes for my fertility patients.
